Chops is a high energy puppy. He will need lots of room to play and run. Patience is much needed with him especially when taking him outside to use the bathroom as he is particular about where he likes to go and takes time to assess his options. Trips to the dog park are perfect for him. However, he doesn’t understand the concept of staying close and we have kept a short leash on him to make it easier to catch him. He is extremely fast. He gets along with most dogs and people. He gets energy spurts where he will need to run around and play to get his energy out. He is not the best on a leash, but with work, he will be good. He is smart and has learned things quickly. He cannot be left unsupervised as he is very quick and sneaky to get into things and needs to be redirected frequently. He has attempted to chew on our area rugs, trim, sides of the couch, and blankets. We have lost three pairs of shoes because of him. He is also extremely rough on toys and will destroy stuffed toys in under 10 minutes. He loves toys with squeakers but has been known to rip the squeaker out and chew on that. He is also extremely mouthy and likes to nip. With training, he has the potential to be a very good dog. He poops up to four times per day. He is good in the car. He’s learning to play fetch. His face is very soft and he has cute eyes.
Chops is a peanut of a spaniel, weighing in at only about 25 lbs. He loves attention and doesn't like having wet toes. He walks well on a leash and happily snoozes away in his crate. We're not sure how well he is with other dogs yet, but we'll update as soon as we know more. A young boy, Chops will need training for basic manners and lots of exercises outside. He does not seem to be timid but also isn't the most outgoing dog we've ever met. Based on first impressions, I think he'd do best with an active family that is committed to consistent training and likes a snuggly dog. He loves good morning stretches and a scratch behind the ears.
