This gorgeous girl is young Sandy, and she is hoping for an active family who wants to take her on regular outdoor adventures. Sandy's previous human recently passed away, so she is looking for a new furever family to love. As a pure Pyr, Sandy has the most luxurious, soft, white fur that is pyrfect for cuddling. Sandy knows her basic cues, and she will gladly follow them when necessary, though she may disagree with you regarding when they are necessary :) As a young girl, Sandy loves her daily long walks/hikes in order to stay fit and healthy. In fact, she will be the one to remind you to get your daily exercise! Sandy is a tad shy when it comes to strangers, perhaps because of the sudden change in environment. However, once you are properly introduced and allow her some time to get to know you, she will warm up and be happy to hang out with you. In her previous life, Sandy lived outdoors and she is used to be on guard to protect her property. These days, she is learning to relax indoors and feel secure around her foster family. Overall, Sandy is a very gentle and loving girl. With an active family who will take the time to help her transition into a new home, Sandy will thrive in no time and become the most loyal companion!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
