Meet Teddy! This little Pomeranian is 9 years old and just 10 lbs. Teddy lives up to his name: he is the sweetest, fluffiest and cuddliest Teddy Bear come to life.
General Behavior: Teddy is a sweet and gentle guy. He's laid back and chill, making for a great companion, especially if you're working from home or retired, he'll be your constant, calm sidekick. Every time he goes for a walk, he gets so many compliments and how cute and docile he is. He is soft and fluffy and his fosters really do call him Teddy Bear. Despite his age, sometimes you still see the puppy in him with his occasional outburst of excitement (especially if food is involved).
Likes & Dislikes: Teddy just wants to be near his people. He will follow you around wherever you go. He doesn't mind being picked up and carried. He also loves going on car rides. He likes sleeping on high back dog beds where he can snuggle in the corner. He doesn't really play with toys, but he sure does love treats and meal time.
Training: Teddy is a little gentleman! He is housetrained if let out regularly, he walks well on a leash, he's well behaved in the car and generally he has great basic manners. He is food motivated and can sit and give you his paw while waiting for his treat. He can mesmerize you with his puppy eyes but don't be fooled: he is patiently waiting for you to drop something to eat.
Medical: Teddy takes his monthly heartworm and flea preventatives as each dog should, but he also suffers from environmental allergies so when he gets itchy, a quick allergy shot does the trick (he currently has a Cytopoint shot as-needed when Florida allergens are at their worst). Teddy is also on daily oral medication, he takes Enalapril for his heart (which is mildly enlarged) and Hycodan to manage a cough - both medications are completely effective and Teddy lives a normal, happy and comfortable life - these meds run less than $20/month.
Other Animals: Teddy is just fine with other dogs and cats too - he's such a chill guy, he doesn't mind the company of furry friends at all as long as they're friendly like he is.
Children: Gentle Teddy is good with respectful children.
Home: Teddy would do well in an apartment, condo, or single-family home - a yard to roam and do his business is great, but leashed walks work well for this little guy too, he's not picky!
Grooming: As a Pomeranian, Teddy will need professional grooming every 8-10 weeks with nail trims and at-home baths in between. Teddy is great with groomingm he doesn't fuss a bit and he's a perfect gentleman for his spa treatments.
Overall: Teddy is a wonderful little dog who would make a great companion for someone who's looking for an adorable, devoted sidekick and someone who is committed to spoiling him rotten and snuggling him like a Teddy Bear for the rest of his life.
