Hi! My name is Kai. My foster mom found me and my mom (Sasha, also listed) after our previous owners dumped us on the side of the road. My mom was chipped, that is how the rescue knew we were owned. My mom was heart worm positive and I was very badly injured, so the people who owned us didn't take good care of us at all. When they found me, my front leg was very infected and bleeding because I had been attacked by something. Luckily, the nice lady who found us took me immediately to the emergency vet and they were able to save my leg! Yay!
My foster mom named me Kai because some of the meanings of my name are "recovery", "protection", and "healing" and I have lived up to my name! A guardian angel must have been looking over my mom and I and protected us, so that we could be found by this wonderful rescue who has been taking such good care of us. My leg has healed very quickly for how bad I was injured and everyone is very grateful!
I am a very smart and playful puppy. I love all toys and treats! I am in a foster home with lots of other dogs and I haven't met a stranger! I love everybody! I absolutely love squeaky toys... I try to get my foster siblings to play with me by throwing my toys at them and then going to grab it so they can chase me around! I think it's a lot of fun! I am teething right now... but I should come out of this phase soon. So please be mindful that I am not biting you, my gums just hurt so I like to chew on things. Luckily, my foster family has lots of chew toys for me to get me through this stage!
I am 100% crate trained! My foster mom said I picked that up really quick. I also sleep on my dog bed right near her bed all through the night with no accidents! She is so proud of me and says I am a very smart puppy! I am working on house training though. I haven't quite gotten used to letting them know when I need to go potty, so I look for potty pads inside and I've been using them pretty routinely! I'll get house training down though, I just need a routine!
I am a husky, so I do shed and I will talk to you. So if you don't like shedding dogs or a talker, I don't think I would be a good fit for you. What can I say? I have a lot of things to talk about!
I am really hoping to find a loving family to adopt me, maybe somewhere where I can experience snow? I don't know what snow is, but I've heard of it and my foster mom thinks I'd love it! While my foster family loves me and will be very sad to see me go, they want the best for me. I would LOVE a family who wants to take me on adventures because I am fearless and I love the outdoors! So if you're interested in making me apart of your family, please go to Destination Rescue's website and apply to adopt me! I am being fostered in Houston, TX but this rescue transports out of state! I can't wait to get to know you!
