Born on May 26, 2024, Simba is a delightful 7-week-old pup eagerly searching for his forever home. With his playful nature and affectionate personality, Simba is bound to bring joy and love to any family. Personality: Simba is a curious and energetic little fellow who loves to explore and have fun. He's always ready for a game of chase or a snuggle session. His endearing nature makes him an excellent companion for anyone looking for a loyal and loving friend. Ideal Home: Simba would flourish in a home that offers plenty of love, attention, and playtime. As a young puppy, he will need a family that is patient and committed to his training and socialization. A nurturing environment where he can grow and learn would be perfect for Simba. Health and Care: Simba is a young puppy who will need regular veterinary check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care as he grows. Because he is so young, he has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that his immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, Simba MUST stay out of public places where he could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no-puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for his medical safety and longevity. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home.All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
